St. Mary of the Assumption Parish and School is excited to welcome Mrs. Judy Reigelnegg as our new Principal! Mrs. Reigelnegg has an abundance of experience in curriculum development and special education (both learning disabled and gifted) that will help to grow St. Mary School! Before coming to St. Mary’s, Mrs. Reigelnegg worked for the University of Pittsburgh from 2013-2015 in the COMET Project with Early Childhood Partnerships in the Office of Child Development. From 2007-2013 she worked at Oakland Catholic as the Academic Support Teacher in the English Department. Mrs. Reigelnegg earned her BA in Religious Studies from Allegheny College, an MS in Special Education from Mercyhurst College, as well as completing focused instruction in the field of Reading Specialist at Buffalo State College, and Maritime Administration at Texas A&M University. She has coached cross-country, swimming, and track at the high school level and was the Head Coach of a large Y and USS Swimming Club for 4 years. Before moving to Pittsburgh, Mrs. Reigelnegg worked as an Inclusion Coordinator in a rural public school in New York State. There, she supervised 6-11 aides, coordinated activities for all students with multiple and/or profound disabilities, and participated in the creation of all IEPs. School-wide, she was a member of the curriculum team and a facilitator for faculty. She supervised several student teachers and mentored new teachers. She was a certified New York State Alternate Assessment Scorer and co-wrote an awarded grant application for Schools Attuned, a national program focusing on differentiated instruction school-wide. Early on in her career, Mrs. Reigelnegg worked in high-need areas in both Florida and Texas. Some of the populations she worked with included students who were ESL, students with Learning Disabilities, Behavior Disorders, and students who were in high-risk situations. Mrs. Reigelnegg is certified in Applied Behavioral Analysis, the PA Student Assistance Program, Crisis Response Training, Orten-Gillingham Dyslexia Program, Safe Physical Management and the use of Kurzweil. Mrs. Reigelnegg has attended many curriculum camps, trainings on assessments, and IRA conferences. She has been a scorer for Educational Testing Services and tutored for both the SAT and ACT.
