CALL TO CELEBRATE CONFIRMATION 2008 -2009 IMPORTANT DATES - note these on your HOME calendar BRING YOUR BIBLE TO EVERY CLASS AND CLUSTER SESSION Thursday, August 28, 7:00 PM in Marian Hall Grade 8 or Sunday, August 31, 10:0 AM in Marian Hall - Parents and Grade 8 youth or Wednesday, Sept 3, 7:00 PM Marian Hall ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Eucharistic Liturgy – The Rite of Welcome at each Liturgy: Sat. Oct. 4, 4 & 6 PM OR Sun., Oct. 5 7:30, 9 & 11 AM Sponsors and Grade 8 Youth meet in Church with Deacon Fran, either Saturday Oct. 4, 5:00 PM or Sunday Oct. 5, 10:00 AM, or Noon. Each intended candidate for Confirmation is to be present at one of the liturgies for the Rite. Invite your Sponsors to be present for the liturgy, then a brief meeting immediately before or after Mass in Church. (Family, sit in RESERVED pews toward the front; youth will enter in procession and be seated with their family. (Let them see in which pew you and your family will sit.) In the Rite of welcoming, the youth “receive the benefit of prayerful support and welcome in the local community” (Sacraments of Initiation #112 ______________________________________________________________________________ Parish Renewal with Dominican priest, Fr. Frank Sutman , October 19-22 Monday, October 20, 6:30 PM All Confirmation Cluster Groups, youth with parent or sponsor, Meet in Marian Hall; bring a pen or pencil. 7:00 PM All participate at Eucharistic Liturgy__ Youth as Greeters/Readers__________________ Monday, December 8, 7:00 PM – Mary’s Immaculate Conception Holy Day followed by brief prayer for the homeless on the plaza. _______ Youth as Greeters/Readers _________________________________________________ 2009___________________________________________________________________________ Thursday, January 22, MARCH FOR LIFE, Washington , DC See response form 5:30 AM liturgy in Church, then bus trip to Washington to participate in the march. Permission form will be distributed at a class session in December. Youth who attend public schools, need to have a form for “Excused Absence for a Religious Event” available at our Faith Formation Office Sunday, February 8, LOVE WALK 2:00 PM Liturgy at Sacred Heart Church , See response form Shadyside followed by a walk to carry items for the homeless to a church in East Liberty. There will be activities, socializing, and refreshments for all who are attending. Adults and youth welcome. Responses needed as to going on our bus with Deacon Fran or in carpool with family members. ___________________________Monday, February 16, 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM - Retreat for ALL Confirmation See response form Candidates at Kearns Spirituality Center , includes liturgies, lunch and group activities. OR – April 3, 7:00 PM - Family Stations of the Cross Saturday, March 7, 4:00 or 6:00 PM Rite of Call to Continuing Conversion Or Sunday, March 8, 7:30, 9:00 & 11:00 AM Candidates meet in Marian Hall TEN minutes BEFORE time of Mass to organize andenter in procession. Parents/guardians meet IN Marian Hall immediately after Mass. Sponsors may come topractice but are not required to do so.__________________________________________________ The Bishop will assign the Date for the liturgy of the Sacrament of Confirmation. As soon as we are notified, you in turn will be informed. (NB We have requested the Bishop to come in early May) Saturday, June 6, Liturgy – Pentecost – Wear RED- Share your gift of the Spirit!! Youth Lectors needed to read some lines of Scripture in a foreign language of YOUR choice. Adults and youth gather after Mass for the DECATHALON ,“FUN STATIONS: Soup-er Words, Cream Lickin’ Goodies, and more, as well as some SERVICE for the homeless. Refreshments for all !
