PJAS RESULTS

Once again St Mary school was well represented at the PJAS competition. 19 of our 7th and 8th graders accepted the challenge of competing against 1000 other middle school students across 12 categories of science to compete in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science competition held on Saturday February 4th.

Our student presenters represented St. Mary's extremely well achieving several first, second and a third place in this event. Our first place winners have qualified to attend Penn State University for the State championships in May. Our first place winners are:

Hope Hoehler (Botany)

Isabelle Rossetti (Behavioral Psychology)

Helena Stone (Chemistry)

and Elizabeth Watson (Zoology) who scored a first place PERFECT which is the highest score that can be achieved with only a handful of students that participated at this event receiving this score.

All contestants were judged in five categories: Scientific Thought, Scientific Methods, Analytical Approach, Presentation and Overall Judge's opinion.

Congratulations for a job well done by all participants. To receive a first or a second place at this highly competitive event is OUTSTANDING!
