ALPHA – Fall 2018 – Began September 12

For many persons, the desire to know God is innate.  However, most of us struggle with how to connect with God in a meaningful way. Alpha is a great way to reawaken and enliven your relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Alpha has been experienced by 29 million people – including Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox Christians, and non-believers – in 169 countries. Over 300 people experienced Alpha last year at St Mary’s.  Many reported that Alpha has brought them to a deeper and more meaningful relationship with the Trinity. They also said that Alpha has made them feel connected to others in the parish in a significant way.

Alpha begins with a meal, is followed by a short video, and then a small group discussion occurs about topics set forth in the videos. The small groups allow for wonderful sharing. There isn’t an obligation to say anything, and there is nothing you cannot say. Alpha is not about “preaching or teaching”. It is an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in a friendly and open environment.

There is not a fee for the Alpha course.

Alpha Sessions begin at 6:30 pm with dinner and end promptly at 8:30 pm. If possible, please arrive in Marian Hall by 6:20.  Dinner will begin at 6:30.

The Alpha course begins September 12 and ends with a Celebration Dinner on December 5, with a retreat-type session in the middle. The evening begins with a meal and light conversation, followed by a short video. The videos each week cover a variety of topics, acting as a springboard for the small group discussions.
